High School Endorsement: STEM

Start by taking advanced math and science courses in high school along with elective on the STEM Endorsement track to prepare for your career in electrical engineering.

To get your first job as an electrical engineer, you will need at least a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electrical engineering technology  Getting a master's degree in electrical engineering opens up additional opportunities for higher level positions. Most colleges in the Gulf Coast Region cover these degree tracks, but make sure it is an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) certified program. Courses to take especially into account are digital systems design, electric circuit theory, and differential equations among others in the maths and sciences.

For higher levels of occupational independence in the future, chemical engineers can obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license. The following must be obtained to get a PE license from the State Board of Professional Engineers:

  • a bachelor's degree from a program approved by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
  • four years of experience working under a licensed Professional Engineer
  • pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination

A variety of different specialization certifications are available to demonstrate an engineer's specialty and skillset to work towards career/pay advancement. Haz clic aquí para conocer más.
